POSITION SUMMARY

The PSI Group in Williamsport MD, a leading manufacturer of corrugated boxes and distributor of packaging supplies, is seeking a Safety / Quality Leader to join our team. The Safety / Quality Leader will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and quality operations within our production facilities.  This position is responsible for managing programs and developing policies to protect site employees, facilities, and properties; supporting, educating and mentoring administrative, sales, and operations teams through the problem solving of safety and quality issues that arise; managing corporate strategies for contingency and crisis planning; managing, supporting, and administering corporate safety, health and environmental programs, conducting investigations of safety and/or quality concerns and assisting in developing and implementing corrective action plans.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate the work conditions and develop methods to prevent injury and illness, thereby ensuring the health and safety of employees
  • Partners with operations teams making sure that employees are following established safety procedures and ensuring company compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Provide information and guidance on maintaining compliance in safety and ergonomics by proactively identifying risk and applying effective countermeasures
  • Identify, analyze and control occupational hazards and promotes work-site and product safety by applying knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes
  • Safety incident claims management - including but not limited to: file incident reports with Worker's Compensation insurance carrier, interact with insurance carrier and Risk Control Services carrier, documentation management
  • Participate in National Safety workshops to develop preventative risk control practices
  • Complete customer quality requests including NAFTA, RoHS, REACH, and Conflict Minerals compliance
  • Develop and conduct safety training and education in all production facilities
  • Track safety incident metrics and apply findings
  • Document and track all quality metrics and corrective actions
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Prepare and file annual safety reports (OSHA 300, etc)
  • Lead, coordinate and complete the root cause analysis of safety and/or quality issues and partner with operations teams to develop and implement corrective action measures
  • Travel and work at other sites is approximately 20%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three to five years of safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in safety or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent leadership and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various employee groups, external customers and vendors
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MOSH, DOT regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
